Tom is a unique innovator in the US mental health arena. For 25 years, he has taught families how to survive the trauma of mental illness, and along the way, created business models that change how providers deliver care to patients and families. He is most known for advocating person-centered behavioral healthcare; that is, a care system that recovers the life of the person versus just treating the illness in the patient. His past work has been presented in The New York Times, Psychiatric News, and National Public Radio. Currently, Tom is creating a branded customer community to coalesce consumers and their families into a competent, informed buyers group to drive up quality in mental healthcare service delivery and improve treatment outcomes for patients.
